Channellers

Channelling or mediumship is an ability by some individuals to mediate communication between the essence, soul or spirit of the dead and living human beings. Due to the prevalence of our communicative capability with today’s media and technology, more and more individuals have expressed this faculty very convincingly. Although no objective evidence exists for this ability, belief is widespread.

Despite its popularity, an experiment by the British Psychological Society concluded that no mediumship ability was exhibited by the test subjects. They did, however, state that many of the experiences of many individuals could not be explained. See our section on beliefs.

The Seth Material

Jane Roberts channelled a non-physical entity called Seth. She dictated the books to her husband, Robert Butts. These books give readers a firm grounding on the true nature of reality. Read what others have said:

“The Seth books present an alternate map of reality with a new diagram of the psyche… useful to all explorers of consciousness.” – Deepak Chopra MD, author of Ageless Body, Timeless Mind

I would like to see the Seth books as required reading for anyone on their spiritual pathway. The amazing in-depth information in the Seth books is as relevant today as it was in the early 70s when Jane Roberts first channeled this material.”
Louise Hay, author of You Can Heal Your Life

The Rise of Spiritualism

During the 19th century channelling or mediumship gained in popularity. Many wealthy individuals found it entertaining and many believed it to be true. But investigations discovered that many practitioners were fraudulent and it lost much popularity. Even today, deception and trickery is used by unscrupulous individuals simply to make money.

Despite the skepticism, many people fervently believe in psychics, mediums and channellers. American, Thomas John is a modern-day psychic who is an Uber driver. Watch the short video below and see how he explains his unique gift.

Biblical References

Attempts to communicate with the dead and other living human beings, aka spirits, have been documented back to early human history. One story is about the Witch of Endor. She is considered a medium in the New International Version of the Bible. She accurately described an upcoming battle between the Philistines and the Israelites. She warned Saul of tragedies ahead. Saul was killed, his three sons were dead, and the soldier who carried his weapons was dead.

Science and Spirituality

Psychic abilities or mediumship became quite popular in the 1800s in the United States and the United Kingdom. This rise in spiritual awareness is described in the channelled Letter 1 of Christ Returns. In that section, Christ explains that because of the great technological advances of the Industrial Revolution and science, mankind became more ego-bound and began seeking scientific explanations for our existence. This continues to this day. The Higgs boson or ‘God Particle‘ became part of science’s Standard Model. But recently, experiments have blown a hole in the Standard Model.

Modern Day Psychics and Mediumship

Modern Mediumship or Spiritualism is said to have had its origin from the Fox sisters in New York State in 1848. Although their abilities were ultimately considered a hoax, their legacy continued with others, more sincere. Other trance mediums during the 19th century were Paschal Beverly Randolph and Emma Hardinge Britten. Allan Kardec coined the term Spiritism around 1860. Kardec stated that communication with spirits by certain mediums was the basis of his ‘The Spirits’ Book’ and the Spiritist Codification.

Scientists began investigating spiritualism or mediumship. Chemist Robert Hare, physicist William Crookes (1832–1919) and evolutionary biologist Alfred Russel Wallace (1823–1913) were among those who took an interest in these investigations. Nobel laureate Pierre Curie took considerable interest in the work of medium Eusapia Palladino. Others including journalist and pacifist William T. Stead (1849–1912) and physician and author Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930) were also investigating and adhered to the practices.

Psychics exhibit their ability in a number of variations. Some involve a spirit controlling the voice of the medium e.g. Lee Carroll/Kryon, Jane Roberts/Seth and Esther Hicks/Abraham. Others simply hear or experience spirits and pass the information e.g. Thomas John and Theresa Caputo. Shamanism Vodun and Voodoo are among a number of practices associated with communication between the living and the dead. Automatic writing also plays a role in this type of communication.

Many people believe in the validity of these present-day psychics. But they have their detractors. Included are the James Randi Educational Foundation, Massimo Polidoro, and Susan Gerbic. But again, we all have our beliefs. Only you can be the judge.
